Day 1

We depart for Northumberland making comfort stops and suitable lunch stop en-route. Arriving at 4* Holiday Inn Gosforth Park, Newcastle this evening.

Day 2

Enjoy a coach guided tour of Northumberland's Hidden Gems.

We begin with a crossing of the causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the epicentre of Christianity in Anglo Saxon times, and the birthplace of the Lindisfarne Gospels, one of the world's most precious books.

Returning to the mainland we take a 20 minute single journey on the Heatherslaw Light Railway, England's most northerly steam-hauled railway.

Thereafter, we visit Ford, one of the prettiest villages in Northumberland and where we take in Lady Waterford Hall - awarded 'Best Hidden Gem'. Pretty watercoloured murals and fascinating stories of Lady Waterford's life including her friendship with Queen Victoria and John Ruskin, one of Britain's most influential watercolourists, can be found here.

Day 3

Today we drive to Durham to board the Prince Bishop River Cruiser for a 1 hour scenic cruise, passing by a great many of the City's most celebrated sights. Enjoy some free time in Durham after the river cruise.

Day 4

Today we visit Chillingham Castle, a 13th century Grade 1 listed stronghold in Northumberland, famed for action and battles.

As this is a 600 year old Castle, this property is not suitable for people with mobility restrictions. There are spiral stairs to negotiate around the whole estate with rope as rails.

Day 5

Today we visit the Beamish Museum, a world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s & 1940s.
